It's been a while since I participated in any form of NaNo WriMo. Chances are that if you're here, you've probably heard of NaNoWriMo and even participated in one before. If not, NaNo WriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month and it's officially in November. Writers from all over the world commit to writing a novel (50,000 words) in the month of November. It's a huge task, but if you're focused and schedule your time, it's doable. There are also mini-versions in April and July called Camp NaNO and people use those as two extra writing months, for revisions, smaller projects--whatever they want. If you want more information on it, check out their website: NaNoWriMo.org.
For a few years I was going strong with November, then using April for revisions and July for planning a new one. But then life hit. I'm a teacher and sometimes there just isn't time in the day to sit down and write and when there is time to sit down and write I don't want to write because I'm tired of reading and writing all day. So yeah. It's been a few years. Then COViD meant most of my time was used in revamping all of my lessons so they could be used virtually and the amount of time needed to do my job took up more time. Add to that a district change (learn new curriculum!) and my own kid's commitments, finding time has been very low on the totem pole.
But, I'm about to dedicate as much of July as I can! I need about 40,000 words to complete my current MG. That's get me right under 50,000 and then I'm sure the revision process will cut more because that how I tend to roll.
If you want to join me, hop onto the link above and sign up for Camp Nano! Even if you're a few days late, don't sweat it. The important thing is that you're getting some writing done.
